Youth Program FAQ Page (2025)

What should I expect in the registration process?
You will be required to provide:
  • Name, age, gender of all children that participate
  • Emergency contact information of parents/guardians including phone numbers and emails
  • Consent to disciplinary actions for bad behavior
  • Food / dietary restrictions
  • Consent to transport children to activities.  Consent (or not) for other children to transport your children.  Consent (or not) for your children to transport other children.
  • Agreement to provide adequate funding for children's activities (e.g. bowling)
  • Quantity and size of event T-shirt(s) to order (this must be ordered 3 weeks ahead of the event)

We have a max capacity of 44 children in our host homes.  Please register early to ensure your child can join.

Are there any age restrictions?
Children must be 13 or older to participate without parental/guardian accompaniment.   That is, if your children will be lodging with you or a guardian and will be accompanied by you (or guardian) during all activities, they can be younger than 13.

Where will my child stay?
Registered children will stay in groups at the homes of our host families.  Boys will stay at separate locations from girls.
If parents join the meeting and have local lodging, children can stay with them.

What will my child eat?
Children will be given three meals per day, most of which will occur at our fellowship building.  Meals will be provided by our congregation.  If your child has dietary restrictions, please be sure to let us know ahead of time so suitable meals can be prepped.

Does my child need to bring any supplies?
We suggest each child bring their Bible, a notebook, a phone charger (if applicable), toiletries, a pillow and blanket (see next FAQ), a laundry bag (like this), and enough clothing for a full week of church assemblies plus activities.  That should include some athletic/work clothing.  If your child would like to join our 5K/10K walk/run, please include appropriate shoes in this list.  There may not be an opportunity to do laundry at the host family's home.

Where will my child sleep?
Expect that your child will sleep on a floor.  Consider bringing whatever is necessary to be comfortable on the floor (e.g. pillow, sleeping bag, sleeping pad).

Does my child need to bring any money?
We are asking each child to bring $50 for activities (e.g. bowling), personal snacks, the event T-shirt (available but not required purchase), etc
.

What will the children do besides attend the meetings?
Children will have a full week including daily group Bible studies, service activities, outdoor activities (including a 5K/10K walk/run), an OSU campus tour, and more.

What if my child has his/her own transportation?
Older teens can use their own cars, but they may be restricted on parking, depending on where they stay.  In that case, we may need to occasionally leave vehicles in the church parking lot for some duration.  Your child may be asked to ride to/from the church building or other activities with a teen driver.  House parents will ensure the driver is licensed and that every child has a seatbelt.  You will find some consent questions on this topic in the registration process.

What are the expectations of the house parents?
Your child will be staying with a host family who may not have the same house rules as you.  If you have specific expectations for your child (e.g. phone use, bedtime, etc.) please set those expectations with your child.  If you have further questions/concerns, please ask the house parents, whose contact info you will receive after registration.

What happens if my child misbehaves or is bullied?
The church will be watching for such behavior diligently.  You will be required to provide consent that the church can exercise some level of discipline (non physical) if your child misbehaves.  In extreme cases, we may request that your child no longer be involved in the program.  In such a case, you must agree to pick up your child immediately or instruct them to leave (if they can drive).  Please encourage your child to immediately inform one of the elders or members at our church if they think they are being bullied.

When does my child need to arrive or be picked up?
We understand some children may not be able to attend the full week of activities.  Our program officially begins with the morning meeting on Sunday, June 29 (10:30am).  It officially ends after the evening service on Sunday July 6 (4:30pm).  Let us know if your child needs to arrive later or leave early.

How do I begin the registration process?
Follow the QR link below or click this link.  When your child is registered and assigned a lodging house, you will receive an email with the contact information for their host parents.
